Digital X-rays

Plantation Dentist

X-rays, or dental radiographs, are one of the most valuable tools Dr. Weiss has for keeping your mouth and teeth healthy. X-rays can diagnose problems in the teeth and jaws such as:

  • Areas of decay not visible by a visual examination, such as decay between teeth or  underneath an existing filling
  • Cracks or other damage in an existing filling
  • Possible bone loss associated with periodontal (gum) disease
  • Infection or nerve damage in the root canal
  • Cysts, cancer and changes associated with metabolic and systemic diseases (such as Paget's disease and lymphoma)

In addition, dental X-rays help Dr. Weiss plan, prepare and place dental implants, dentures, Invisalign® teeth straightening or other dental treatments.

Digital X-rays are one of the newest dental X-ray techniques in use today. With digital radiographs, film is replaced with a small sensor. The sensor is placed in the mouth, and when the X-ray is taken, the image is sent directly to a computer and appears on the monitor, where both you and Dr. Weiss can see the results. The image can then be stored on the computer or printed out.

There are a number of benefits of digital X-rays over traditional film X-rays, including:

  • Digital images can be computer-enhanced. Larger, clearer, color-enhanced images enable you to see what Dr. Weiss sees, so it's easier for you to understand how he will treat your teeth.
  • More recent X-rays can be digitally compared to previous X-rays. By subtracting out everything that is the same and providing a clear image of anything that is different, tiny changes that may not be visible to the naked eye can be caught earlier.
  • You are exposed to much less radiation (up to 90% less) than traditional X-rays.
  • Digital radiography is also better for the environment. It doesn't use photo chemicals and traditional film, thus eliminating waste.

If you're looking for a dentist who uses the latest cutting edge technology, make an appointment with Dr. Weiss today. Call our office in Plantation, Florida at (954) 473-6400 or use our online form to request a complimentary consultation.
